AN ugly iron bridge built in the 1960s to let people cross the A338 road at Pennings Road in Tidworth could be dismantled.
Parish councillors in the village have said they would only be prepared to see the bridge removed if it is replaced by a pelican crossing.
There was talk of moving the bridge to another site in 1999, but the proposal came to nothing.
Now the redevelopment of Portando House, the former 'Roadhouse' building, could mean funding could be made available for changes as part of a developer's contribution to the area's infrastructure.
There are already proposals to demolish the existing building and replace it with community leisure facilities.
