SAINTS stars, celebrities and more than 550 of Hampshire's businessmen and women were shaken and stirred for cash at a charity dinner and Bond premiere staged at the Friends Provident St Mary's Stadium in Southampton last night.
The James Bond-themed event saw guests gambling at roulette and card tables as well as bidding for lots in an auction to raise money for Southampton-based charity Children Say and the Hampshire Deaf Association.
The climax of the sale was the auctioning of a one-carat diamond which was kept under lock and key before bidding took place. It was provided by Southampton jewellers Parkhouse and Wyatt, which sponsored the event along with watch maker Omega.
The evening, timed to coincide with the release of the latest hit Bond movie Die Another Day, kicked-off with Saints stars led by Matthew Le Tissier arriving at St Mary's in glamorous cars. Le God naturally arrived in 007's Aston Martin while current members of the team turned up in Jaguars. The dinner raised more than £30,000 for the two charities.
