Basingstoke Buffalo's 100 per cent winning record finally came to a dramatic finale in an exciting 3-3 draw at home to Invicta Mustangs.
Despite out-shooting Invicta 18-7, the Buffalo went down 2-0 in the first period after goals from Matt Drake and Peter Beerling put the visitors ahead.
In the second period, Buffalo clawed the score back to 2-1. After just 24 seconds Leigh Baker deflected an Ian Parsons' shot into the net.
But midway through the period, Invicta's Curtis Potter restored their two-goal cushion as Buffalo suffered the unusual experience of being 3-1 down.
With ten minutes to go Simon Beere, assisted by Andy Morgan, reduced the deficit and two minutes later, on the powerplay, Drew Campbell levelled. Assists went to Mike Newberry and Anthony Page.
Hearts stopped with five minutes left when Invicta were awarded a penalty, but the impressive Vicky Robbins saved.
The draw left Buffalo unbeaten after ten games and ten points clear at the top of the ENL Southern Conference.
Basingstoke scorers: Drew Campbell, Simon Beere and Leigh Baker 1+0, Mike Newberry, Ian Parsons Anthony Page and Andy Morgan 0+1.
