THE Prince of Wales, pictured, watched a noisy, James Bond-style spectacular before he attended the royal premiere of the new 007 film last night in the south.
To the sound of mock machine-gun fire and loud explosions, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines put on an exciting display when the prince arrived for the special screening of Die Another Day in Portsmouth.
Charles was guest of honour at the screening held at Gun Wharf Quays on behalf of the Royal Naval film charity of which he is president.
Before the film, the prince, wearing the uniform of a Vice- Admiral, watched as actors and servicemen played out an 007 scenario. The plot centred around the kidnapping of a TV reporter who has uncovered a diamond smuggling racket.
Following the display which took place in Portsmouth harbour, Charles met many of the 1,500-strong crowd.
