Hamble Old Boys allowed a two-goal lead to slip through their fingers as an injury-time equaliser gave Hampshire/ Surrey Regional League rivals Barnes a dramatic 2-2 draw at Satchel Lane.

The Old Boys looked to have ended the Thamesiders' seven-match unbeaten start when goals by Dave Foster and Steve Barber created a 2-0 interval lead.

But a penalty flick by top league goalscorer Steve Hankins and Andrew Fry's last gasp equaliser gave Barnes their fourth draw in seven - and preserved their unbeaten record.

"It hurts to concede such a late goal, although the performance of the Hamble team was excellent," bemoaned Old Boys captain Paul Barber.

"Barnes would have been very unlucky to take nothing from the game as they had us under the cosh for most of the second half, so maybe a draw was a fair result."

Trojans, who visit Barnes on Saturday, remain top and two points clear of Bournemouth after crushing draw specialists Reigate Priory 5-1 at Stoneham Lane.

They raced into a 2-0 lead inside the opening ten minutes through Chris Rhodes and Matt Sykes, but were pegged back when Reigate cut the gap.

Any prospect Reigate had of forcing a fifth draw in seven games ended when Sykes restored Trojans' two-goal advantage before half-time.

Mark Ellis was involved in both of Trojans' second half goals - setting up the fourth for Scotsman Craig Summerville and scoring the fifth himself.

Sparsholt cricketer Craig Falkingham found himself in the firing line again as Winchester conceded another netful of goals.

Beaten six times at Barnes the previous week, Falkingham picked the ball out of his net on another five occasions as Bournemouth swept to a 5-1 win.

Andover remain pointless and stranded at

the basement after a 5-2 defeat by Basingstoke

at Down Grange. They managed two consolation goals late on, with Nigel Downing scoring the

first after a link up between Glyn Hacker and Russell Crawford.

Richard Hoo grabbed a second from a penalty after Andy Cole's penalty corner had been blocked on the line.

Southampton drew 3-3 at Hampshire League rivals Haslemere, with Bill Ashworth scoring an equaliser ten minutes from the end.

But Southampton were twice in front earlier in the match, with Chris Stokes scoring the first and Gary Watts giving the visitors a 2-1 interval advantage.

Haslemere turned the match on its head to create a 3-2 advantage, which Ashworth cancelled out ten minutes from time.

Fareham remain entrenched in the South Premier League relegation zone after a 6-0 home defeat by Old Georgians.

"The odd thing was that we again played pretty well, but are prone to giving away silly goals," bemoaned coach Steve Godwin.

Saturday's visit to fellow strugglers City of Portsmouth could be key to Fareham's survival prospects
