ADVICE is be given to thousands of Gosport residents about what to do in the event of an emergency at one of the peninsula's military establishments.
Defence Munitions Gosport will send out about 5,000 leaflets to nearby residents outlining how emergencies would be dealt with and what action the public should take.
New laws means all commercial sites housing hazardous material must make their major incident plans public.
The contingency plan has been developed with Hampshire County Council.
Simon Parker, the council's emergency planning officer, said: "The new regulations have brought the military in line with similar civilian regulations governing major hazard sites such as Fawley Refinery."
