SOUTHAMPTON city centre was the venue for a colourful festival of stories, theatre and fun.
The lively day saw the St Michael's Square and Bugle Street area of the city filled with a variety of storytellers and live performers.
Youngsters also took part in a lantern procession, with lanterns they had earlier made themselves at a workshop in the Tudor Merchant's House.
Elsewhere in the festival, which is in its third year, there was morris dancing and innovative story walks.
Rob Iliffe of Southampton Story Club, which helped stage the event with the council, St Faith's Mission Room Charity and other groups, said: "It is a great opportunity to see professional performers and the chance to breathe life into the historic old town of Southampton. This event isn't just for children, but for everyone because you are never too old to listen to stories."
