A Brokenhurst Manor golfing quartet hope to walk off the Grayhawk golf course in Scottsdale, Arizona tomorrow as world champions.
The New Forest club will be representing England in the John Dere World Team Champion-ships.
The four-man team of club professional Bruce Parker, club manager Paul Clifford, last year's captain Charles Sketchworth and course manager Ed McCabe have made it through tough regional and national rounds in the inaugural UK event to fly the flag in Phoenix.
They will be joined by a fifth player, David Harrison, from New Forest Farm Machinery, the local John Deere dealers.
The winners of the competition, with its Texas Scramble format and involving teams from North America, Ireland, Canada, Australia and Germany, will scoop expensive greenkeeping equipment from world manufacturers and sponsors John Dere.
Brokenhurst Manor, established for nearly 100 years, is the only club to win both the English and European Club Championships in the same year - 1988.
