Blackfield and Langley emerged victorious over Hythe and Dibden in the big Southampton Senior Cup Waterside derby on Saturday.
The second-round crunch match didn't quite live up to it's billing. In fact, Hythe chairman Robbie Parson described it as: "a dire affair."
Parsons explained: "I think it was because we all knew each other so well. There were about seven or eight former Hythe players turning out for Blackfield while we had about four of their old boys."
Jake Voller, one of the youngest players on the park at 16, opened the scoring for Blackfield, who were technically the underdogs - playing these days in Senior 1 of the Southampton League.
There were still some pretty useful campaigners in their ranks, including Nathan Oakley, who restored Blackfield's lead in the second half after Darren Clarke had equalised with a glancing header from a Lee Conner cross.
Cup favourites Winchester City took their goals tally to 99 in 24 games this term when they beat Cadnam United 5-1 in their second round tie at the City Ground.
United did well to peg City to just two goals in the first-half. But Andy Forbes got his foot down on the gas and went on to complete his fifth hat-trick of the season. Michael Jackson added two more for City, who won the trophy two years ago.
Netley Central Sports overpowered Southampton League opponents North Baddesley at Station Road. Netley finished up with seven goals, had three disallowed and rattled the woodwork three times.
Ben Calder, with two goals, led the way for Netley, followed by Pete Childs, Scott Rice, Mike Mullins, Greg Coak and Barry Hurd, who had extra reason to celebrate. It was his first goal of the season.
Elsewhere the weather intervened, leaving many Hampshire League sides, including holders Vosper Thornycroft, to rearrange ties for next week.
