Much Ado About Nothing, The Point, Eastleigh
TREMOR Cordis is gradually building its reputation as one of the most accessible producers of Shakespeare.
Much Ado About Nothing is no exception and although traditionalists might recoil in horror at the sight of Benedick delivering his best known speech while on the loo, there is no doubt that this lively interpretation will appeal to a young audience.
The set and props are basic with modern costumes adding to the contemporary feel. The acting is strong with Shakespeare's text brought to life against an undercurrent of modern day nightclub culture.
Purists will probably hate it but productions like this help to persuade young audiences that the humour and issues explored within Shakespeare are still relevant today.
