Communicating Doors: Lee Players, Crofton Community Centre, Stubbington
Alan Ayckbourn's superb script keeps the audience guessing in this comedy which mixes murder and time-travel.
Corrupt businessman Mark Welles (Mark Burns) is responsible for the deaths of his wives - the first for money and the second because "there's no place in business for a good honest wife".
He hires a prostitute, Poopay (Tammy Chappell), to witness his confession, and, while escaping death herself, she discovers the communicating doors. They lead back 20 years to that same good wife, Ruella (Angela Calland). Ruella, it turns out, can handle anything, including the first wife, the disposal of a body and falling from a sixth floor window.
Light and sound effects are used to give guidance as to the decade of the action. Ends November 16.
