IF ANYONE crossed her, a calamity would befall them!
That's how one of the Wild West's most famous woman - Calamity Jane - got her name.
This sharp-shooting sister comes to Cadnam tonight and tomorrow as Copythorne Amateur Theatrical Society present Oh Calamity Jane.
This light-hearted musical tells the story of Calamity, real name Martha Jane Canary, born on the American frontiers.
Usually dressed in men's clothing, Calamity worked for the US Army as a scout then went on to perform with a Wild West show.
This production is full of the old favourites - Secret Love, Deadwood Stage and Blackhills of Dakota - from the film that starred Doris Day and Howard Keel.
Plus, Copythorne have added their own musical extras including YMCA - Young Man's Cattle Association.
Copythorne Parish Hall, Cadnam, November 15 & 16. Tickets: £4.Box office: 023 8081 2139.
