AFTER suffering their heaviest defeat of the season against Barking at Down Grange, 'Stoke will swiftly bid to return to winning ways in the National League when they travel to Redruth.
The lengthy trip to Cornwall tomorrow, for what is always one of the toughest of examinations in division three south, comes a week after 'Stoke's 24-50 defeat to Barking.
That result left 'Stoke player-coach Ian Calder bitterly disappointed, but having demolished Redruth at Down Grange 50-15 a month ago, the Kiwi knows his side have what it takes to re-group in training and hit the road, confident of taking something from the testing encounter.
Calder said: "After the last few performances, it was very disappointing not to take the opportunity to beat Barking, a team below us in the league. The guys know that we missed too many tackles and didn't get into our rucking game until it was too late.
"We didn't deliver from one to 15 and it was a backward step, but the game and the two points have gone now. I don't want us to dwell on it and I hope that's the only time we will play so poorly this season.
"We have the chance to rectify things against Redruth.
"We know that it's going to be tough tomorrow. The long trip is one factor, plus they will be looking for revenge because we beat them well at Down Grange. That was one game where we all clicked and played the rugby we want to be playing."
Ahead of the game, doubts remain over the fitness of Fraser Jones, who injured his shin badly against Barking, and Chris Norton, who has been suffering from a bad back.
Meanwhile, after all the furore created last week over the postponement of 'Stoke's first round Hampshire Cup clash with Havant, the game will now likely to be played on Sunday, November 24.
Against Redruth, 'Stoke choose from: Collins, Evans, Buttle, Drawbridge, Hooker, Reeve, Baker, Chapman, Dean, Calder, Jones, Taylor, Rees, Joseph, Lambert, McKinnie, Wilson, Cullum, Kirwan, Norton.
