GOING on holiday with your friends is not always a good idea - especially when you're confined to the close quarters of a cabin cruiser.
Way Upstream, written by master of black comedy Alan Ayckbourn, is the latest offering from Lymington Players, opening last night at the Malt Hall in Lymington Community Centre.
Directed by Liz Watson, the play follows the plight of two couples holidaying on a boat.
When domineering skipper Keith has to cut short his trip, the remaining crew get more than they bargained for when they run aground and pick up a hitch-hiker.
"When the show originally opened in London at the National, the set included a river on stage but the water leaked through to the electricals and the performances were postponed," explains Liz.
To ensure the Lymington Players' production is not a wash-out, the group are asking the audience to let their imagination set sail instead - and pretend that the stage is the river.
The show runs until November 16. Performances are at 7.45pm. Tickets cost £5.50.
