Hampshire PGA Trainees retained the Paul Hurring Memorial Trophy (7-5) after an exciting match against the Hampshire County Juniors at Test Valley Golf Club.
After establishing a 3-1 lead in the morning foursomes, the HPGA Trainees had to cope with a spirited fightback in the afternoon singles by a very strong county juniors team.
Singles wins for the trainees by Chris Hudson and Russell Tate were countered by victories for the county juniors by David Butwell, David Walker, Charlie Swann and Jonathan Watt.
With the scores level, the outcome of the match was finally decided when, in fading light, Meon Valley's Simon Pink defeated Royal Winchester's Matt Buley on the final green and Paulton's Mark Williamson withstood a back-nine charge from Meon Valley's Sam Boyes to win 2 & 1. Teams:
