DETAILS of this year's star-studded award ceremony to honour the south's unsung heroes have started to emerge.

The celebrity bash will be held at Southampton's De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel where nominees and special guests will gather to pay tribute to the winners of this year's Ocean FM Local Heroes.

Now in its eightth year and once again backed by the Daily Echo the event singles out some very special people who would otherwise go unnoticed for their bravery, help or support. The awards ceremony will also feature bands from the last three decades.

A spokeswoman for Ocean FM said: "We have already confirmed McAlmont and Butler as one of the performers and other top acts of the 80s, 90s and the current era will also be appearing."

A charity auction in aid of Naomi House is also being staged and it is hoped last year's effort of £30,000 will be topped by the audience at this year's award ceremony.

But the highlight of the celebration lunch on November 29 will be the award winners themselves. That is where you come in. Nominating someone could not be easier. Forms have been appearing in the Daily Echo which is also backing the Most Heroic Act category at this year's event.

You can also go online to register the nominee you think deserves to receive one of the five accolades on offer ranging from being a best friend, to charity support.

Entries need to be received at Ocean FM by next Friday so get nominating for who you think is worthy of the title Local Hero!
