SOLENT Stars' junior and cadet men scored impressive victories over their old adversaries London Towers in the RAF Careers National Basketball Leagues last weekend.
But there was frustration for the club's cadet women, who narrowly failed to gain their first league win of the season, clipped 46-42 by Exeter Eagles.
Bolstered by an improved defensive display, the women led for three-quarters of the game before losing their grip.
Their downfall was a combination of missing easy scoring chances and having top scorer Jodi Jerram denied possession of the ball.
Solent scorers: Jodi Jerram 14, Rachel Almond 12, Holly Over 6, Bianca Dilworth 4, Emily Brookfield 2, Becky Carr 2, Chloe McEwan 2, Charlene Blackman, Rosamond Day, Kaylee Long.
l Solent's junior men had a timely return to form against Towers at Crystal Palace.
After two recent losses, Steve Chant's team needed a solid performance to steer them back on course - and they delivered it with a handsome 97-61 success.
Paul Loosemore was outstanding at both ends of the court, top scoring with 25 points and coping brilliantly with the larger London players.
Guard Dave Ewen turned in his best performance of the season and was well supported by Craig Dawson and Matthew Guymon.
Praised by Chant for their effort and teamwork, Stars finished the game in style, scoring nine points in the last minute.
Solent scorers: Paul Loosemore 25, Dave Ewen 22, Ollie Rutter 16, Mark Blackwood 16, Craig Dawson 6, Matthew Guymon 5, Lawrence Brown 4, Richard Smithson 2, Marvin Dilworth 1.
l The unbeaten Stars cadets racked up their fourth straight win, 74-67, against the Towers.
It was their toughest test so far, but again Matt Guymon rose to the challenge by top scoring, taking his average to 33 points a game.
Liam Openshaw kept up his good, overall court play, but Stars were seriously challenged on the boards by a tall, athletic London team and worked hard to record a seven-point victory margin.
Solent scorers: Guymon 25, Openshaw 15, Titcombe 9, Holmar 9, Laryea 6, Young 4, Josey 3, Kenchenton 2, Bawden 1.
