SOUTHAMPTON community arts organisation Art Asia present a three-date tour of the south featuring the music of sitar maestro Ustad Vilayat Khan.
Sitar duo Viram Jasani and Mehboob Nadeem will be performing his music, accompanied by tabla player Hanif Khan.
Their first performance, at the Turner Sims Concert Hall, Southampton, will be preceded by a special performance by GCSE pupils from Thornden School, Chandlers Ford, who have been attending workshops with the duo.
Viram and Mehboob are both renowned performers who have played concerts all over Europe and Asia. Jasani began singing at the age of eight before acquiring his first sitar when he was 12.
Nadeem - the grandson of Ustad Vilayat Khan - comes from a family of traditional musicians.
November 8, Turner Sims Concert Hall (023 8059 5151); November 9, Pavilion, Bournemouth (01202 456456); November 10, Portsmouth Arts Centre (023 9283 7373). Tickets: from £4.50.
