After the storms of the previous week, the Race Committee decided to run two races to get the series back on schedule.

With winds for the first race between 8 and 12 knots from the west, conditions were near perfect, with bright sunshine and a tide about to turn.

However just before the start sequence, the wind went light and started to shift around, making the Multihull start an incident filled event with a protest and alternative penalty the result.

An hour and half later, after an eight mile course and two more alternative penalties taken into account, Trivia took first place, some 28 seconds ahead of Kokomo, who were only three seconds ahead of Scooby III.

Class 1 saw the series leader X-Parrot take yet another first place, with NJOS some four minutes behind in second place, and Hooligan IV third another 27 seconds later.

Class 2 saw the clubs Vice Commodore Roger Townsend take first place in Backchat, winning by over a minute and half, with the Sigma 33 Hooligan second and K-Vector II third.

In the first race of the day the diminutive Micro-Gem 'Urchin II' took first place by five seconds, with the Hunter 707 'Big Boys Toys' second just over a minute ahead of Iskareen.

The committee boat then moved nearer the main channel to set the start for the second race of the day as the tide was now fully on the ebb.

After a delay of 15 minutes, with the wind now up to over twenty knots, the Multihulls got away cleanly, They then became involved with shipping in the main channel, leading to a number of protests, with the results being delayed until after the protest hearing next week.

Class 1 started well, but in the rush to clear the line, Jokers Wild (a J-80) had her transom hung rudder 'removed' in an incident with Spirit of Plane Sailing. Both retired.

Hooligan IV (JOD 35) won the race with a lead of two minutes over Maybee III (MG335), who were followed into third place a minute later by NJOS(Corby 36). The CRO then postponed the start of class 2 for 15 minutes while another container ship came up the channel, and class2 finally got away at 12:35.

Hooligan (Sigma 33) won by 19 seconds from the Batesons (father and Rear Commodore Peter, mother Flavia, daughter Stephanie and son Ross) in their 'new' Starspray, with Backchat third. Backchat saved her third place by a superb last leg planing in the gusts to a downwind finish. Club class saw Big Boys Toys take first place in strong winds, with Zumbido (Sadler 29) second by only 15 seconds. Indiana Jones II (Robber 3E) was third some 20 seconds later.

All the racers were back in the clubhouse by 14:30 for a delayed lunch, where the results were announced and the normal bottle prizes awarded.
