POOLE pair Mike Read and Mark Thorpe powered their way impressively to the Southern Centre ACU sidecar title at Finkley, near Andover, at the weekend.
Salisbury Motor Cycle and Light Car club ran the event which saw Read and Thorpe complete all their races unbeaten.
In each class there were three rides to gain points for the semi-finals with the top riders going into a sudden-death final. Final results:
250: 1 Lee Pitman, 2 Steve Leigh, 3 Willie Tustin.
350: 1 Lewis Denham, 2 Bob Dolman, 3 Nathan Irwin.
500: 1 Richard Hall, 2 Kevin Buck, 3 Paul Knott.
500 sidecar: 1 Mike Read & Mark Thorpe, 2 Brian Palmer & Danny Hogan, 3 Wayne Read & Clive Preston.
1000cc sidecar: Clive Stoneman & Rowland Bloomfield, 2 Mick Turrell & Tony Baseby, 3 John Hiscock & Tony Beminster.
Salisbury's next meeting will be their Hangover charity meeting on January 5 when all the profits will go to Amesbury St John Ambulance who provide the first aid cover for all of Salisbury's meetings.
