Eastleigh Operatic and Dramatic Society are going underground in their latest show.
Orpheus in the Underworld, Offenbach's mythologically-inspired opera, is an everyday tale of farming folk - or, to be more exact, of a woman who falls in love with the god of the Underworld who is disguised as a shepherd and then gets whisked away underground.
Those Greeks certainly new how to tell a good story. Offenbach has matched it with some equally good tunes - including, most famously of all, the Can-Can, or, as it should properly be called, the Infernal Gallop.
Among the mortal talent on show in the talented group's latest production are Janet Green and Shaun Dodimead (pictured).
The Point, Eastleigh, Tuesday November 5 until Saturday November 9. Performance: Box office: 023 8065 2333.
