Hampshire's Colin Monk and James Wade face all-England matches when they begin their 2003 Embassy campaign early in January.

Monk is almost a veteran at the Embassy, having been ever-present, and will make his 10th consecutive appearance in January.

Wade is the young gun who will be looking to make his mark in his first appearance.

Wade's first match will see him face qualifier Denis Harbour, a player of enormous experience. A win against Harbour will set up a match against either number eight seed Mervyn King or Winmau semi-finalist Steve Coote.

Monk's opening match pitches him against Cambridgeshire man Shuan Greatbatch, who hit the first ever live-televised nine-darter early this year in Holland and will not be a pushover for the 2001 semi-finalist.

Champion Tony David opens his campaign with a tie against Dan-ish qualifier Brian Sorrenson.

Paul Hogan came within a whisker of returning to the Lakeside stage before bowing out of the play offs to Denis Harbour.

Graham Hardy also came close to travelling to Surrey, reaching his group final against New Zealander Graham Hunt before losing 2-1. Hunt was then beaten by Welshman Martin Phillips in the group final to set up a trip to Lakeside in the New Year.
