Diego Forlan's late strike broke Saints hearts today as the Argentine handed Gordon Strachan's men a defeat they didn't deserve.
Forlan's goal ended Saints four game winning run but it looked for most of the game as if they would walk away from Old Trafford with a draw.
Phil Neville had given Sir Alex Ferguson's team the lead after 15 minutes when his deflected shot left Antti Niemi stranded.
But Saints hit back three minutes later though another piece of brilliance from Fabrice Fernandes, whose cross-goal shot gave Fabien Barthez no chance.
If anything, Saints created the better chances in the second half and could have had the lead before United netted their second.
Saints controlled long periods of the game and looked the better side for most of it, so Forlan's late goal was a true sickener.
