On a day which saw the New Forest endure some of the stormiest weather in years, Lymington Recreation Centre witnessed its own mini-hurricane in the form of Ringwood's Alan Gregory.

He recorded the second highest individual score in the New Forest Indoor Cricket League's 25-year history.

Chasing Lymington II's impressive 155-3 in Division 2, Ringwood looked dead and buried at 95-5.

But Gregory struck an unbeaten 87 which steered his side home with two balls to spare.

For Lymington, Jerry Holt scored an unbeaten 49 and took three wickets and he was supported by Craig Tapper and Tony Thorpe, both with 30 retired.

Lymington's first team lost in Division 1 despite amassing 140-3 mainly through Peter Tapper (43 no) and Matt Molloy (26 no).

Kevin Nash (39 no) gave Bashley a perfect start and his good work was continued by Brian Vibert (49). This pair levelled the scores and, although Vibert was run out backing up, Nash kept his nerve and scampered the winning run off the last ball.

Burley reached 139-4 with Paul Yates (26) and Wayne Tucker (25 no) boosted by no fewer than 75 extras, 70 of which came from wides with just John Doe (3-19) taking the bowling plaudits.

Steve Rice (26 ret) led the reply and, with Paul Hickman hitting 23 not out, Esso (Fawley) won by four wickets with three balls left.

In Division 2, Brockenhurst were dismissed for 112 with only Simon Naylor (30) in form. Stuart Waite and Phillip Morris both scored 27 retired as Bashley II eased home with an over to spare.

Bashley III had a five-wicket win over five-man Burley II, who totalled 110-2 in Division 3 thanks to Charlie Moorman (30 no) and Rob Trotter (35 no).

Openers Martin Herbert (28 ret) and Andy McGregor (29 ret) gave Bashley an excellent start and then Plummer hit 23 not out as they won off 9.3 overs.

With only Giles Chorley (28) in touch, Pennington and Wellworthy were stopped at 92-4 and Milford-on-Sea cruised home without loss in eight overs thanks to Ron Wilkins (27 ret) and Robin Butler (25 ret).
