BELINDA Carlisle might not quite be Madonna, but she's still something of an Eighties/Nineties music icon.
Indeed, it is hard to believe that the princess of pop, who brought us such hits as Heaven Is A Place On Earth, Leave A Light On and Runaway Horses, will be gracing Southampton with her presence.
But then again, Belinda's career has moved on since her days of chart domination. She last entered the UK charts in 1999 but it was back in 1996 that she had her most recent top ten hit.
However, while Belinda might not be churning out hits like she once was, she can still hold a good tune, and thankfully her career has been packed with them.
And happily, while much music from a decade or so ago sounds excruciatingly dated, Belinda's hits have, like the singer herself, aged incredibly well.
Southampton Guildhall, November 1. Tickets from £13.50. Box office: 023 8063 2601.
