ONE of the greatest entertainers of the 20th century is the inspiration behind this new musical.
Hollywood star and original Rat Packer Sammy Davis Junior soared to the top of the entertainment industry in his own lifetime - despite having the "wrong looks, height, face and race".
His personal tale of triumph against the odds hovers in the background of this story of ten gifted young hopefuls auditioning for parts in a new West End musical based on the life of the legendary musician and entertainer.
Through their eyes, we are given a glimpse of Sammy's life and career - and reminded that talent always shows in the end.
Theatre Royal, Winchester until November 2. Performance: 7.30pm (Saturday matinee 2.30pm). Box office: 01962 840440.
