National rankings in the British Olympic classes stayed unchanged after the extreme weather conditions last weekend forced organisers of the all-important Holt RYA National Ranking Series to abandon third round racing in Weymouth.
The high winds exceeded the wind strength limit for many of the Olympic classes on Saturday and as the forecast was due to get worse on Sunday the decision was made to abandon racing for the weekend.
As a result, Graham Vials and Matt Gill continue to lead the 470 class, Paul Brotherton and Mark Asquith the 49ers, Debbie Winstanley the Europe class, Andrew Simpson the Finn class and Rob Wilson and Will Howden the Tornado class.
A further two events have scheduled next month to complete the series, at Rutland over the weekend of the 9/10 November for the Europe, 470, Finn and 2.4m and at Warsash Sailing Club over the weekend of the 16/17 November for the Europe, 470, Finn, 49er, Tornado and Yngling class.
The Ranking List is used to distribute grants to non-lottery funded sailors to attend events such as the Princess Sofia Regatta, Hyeres and Spa.
