A NEW leaflet outlining the Round-the-Island cycle route has been issued in a partnership between the Isle of Wight Council's Highways Department and Cycle Wight.
The leaflet, which is a companion to the Guide to Cycling Trails of the Isle of Wight leaflet issued earlier this year, shows the 62-mile route around the Island the same route used by the Round-the-Island cycle event organised by the Wayfarers Touring Club.
As well as a map and clear written instruction about both clockwise and anti-clockwise routes, the full colour leaflet also has details of the gradients cyclists can expect, suggestions for a shorter route and also cycle shops and cycle hire across the Island.
It also shows all the Island's cycleways, both completed and under construction.
Other information includes:
Ferries and contact details
The on-road and off-road cycling codes
Useful web links
Information about the National Cycle Network.
Les Skinner of the council's rights of way department, said the leaflets were currently free and available from tourist information centres and some Island cycle shops.
Anyone experiencing difficulty in obtaining a leaflet should contact Les on 01983 823741.
