AN INTERNET cafe at a Locks Heath youth centre is to open in December after police backed the project with a £4,000 grant.
Insp Stephen Havis, of Park Gate police, said he was delighted the police authority had supported the project at the Genesis Centre.
"We are looking to set up the Internet cafe as soon as possible and hopefully get it running by December," he said. "It will make the Genesis Centre more attractive for young people, giving them extra things to do."
The £4,000 grant was the remainder of the total sum needed to make the £13,000 project become reality.
Youth leaders at the centre secured the rest of the money for the Internet cafe that will see seven computers set up in total.
Youngsters will be supervised as they access the Internet for educational and social use.
The Genesis Youth Centre is the main facility for young people across the western wards and caters for people aged from ten to 25.
