Winchester's St Bartholomew's Church, Hyde, celebrated Harvest Festival with a harvest supper in the church hall and a festival of thanksgiving.
The Revd Michael Starr, recuperating well from an accident, was able to attend the supper with his wife, Catherine, and with over 100 parishioners sat down to a meal of traditional harvest fare.
Afterwards, a programme of entertainment opened with a not so traditional rendition of All Things Bright and Beautiful and continued with a variety of items ranging from comic sketches, poetry recitations and music hall songs.
Two beautiful solos were provided by Julia Mantell on the violin, playing Gavotte by Francois-Joseph Gossec and Charles Mantell performing the second movement of Haydn's Trumpet Concerto.
Mary Ann Cameron accompanied on the piano and Sean Cameron acted as master of ceremonies. An excellent evening concluded with everybody singing harvest hymns and songs, new and old.
The service was well attended by members of the Brownie Pack and Rainbows Group and harvest gifts, donated by the congregation, were distributed within the parish.
