STONEHAM missed out on the national seniors' six-man golf team championship last year after winning the trophy in 2000.
But Peter Price's men are determined to win it back after reaching the final of this year's competition with a resounding 173-110 home win over the Shirley Club from Birmingham.
In the two-leg semi-final, the Stoneham team of Peter Price, John White, Kevin Digby, Peter Thompson and guest players Patrick Burke (Portsmouth) and Jim Hayball (Wellow) had become the first team to beat Shirley on their home patch.
Price's Stoneham teams have a tremendous record in national club competition when, as Southampton Spitfires, they won the four-man title twice and the six-man once.
They now play Hinault Forest from Essex in the six-man final.
