A MAN whose body was discovered in a social club car park is believed to have died from natural causes.
The 38-year-old man's body was discovered in the car park of Burridge Sports and Social Club on Saturday morning.
Detectives originally treated the death as suspicious - but following a post-mortem yesterday they have closed the case.
The man has not yet been identified, but police said he lived locally. Family members in Jersey have been contacted about the death.
A dog walker discovered the dead man lying between two cars at the car park in Botley Road at 7.50am.
Police originally launched a major investigation after the dog walker saw a small white van leave the car park shortly after he discovered the body.
But the van driver has been located, interviewed, and eliminated from their inquiries.
Forensic experts and scenes of crime officers carried out a fingertip search of the social club's car park throughout Saturday.
The search focused on the area where the body was found, between a blue Peugeot 405 and a red Peugeot 406.
The man's body was removed from the car park at about 1pm on Saturday afternoon and taken to Southampton General Hospital for yesterday's post-mortem examination.
Police sealed off the social club, car park and adjoining football pitch, cricket ground and two tennis courts throughout Saturday as the entire area was declared a major crime scene.
They also carried out house-to-house inquiries along Botley Road.
