Blackfield are becoming a little isolated at the bottom of the Jewson Wessex League - along with Whitchurch - after going down 4-1 at home to Moneyfields.

First-half strikes from Lee Mould and Carl Miller put the Moneymen in control until the hour mark when they had Bikram Singh red-carded for two bookable offences.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Moneyfields added a third through Gavin Jones, who rounded the 'keeper to score before young Danny Mockeridge reduced the deficit for the home side.

But Moneyfields had the final word when Wayne Eastman blasted home a penalty kick after Joe Long had been upended by the Blackfield 'keeper, who only received a yellow card for the offence.

But Blackfield boss Terry Smith remained upbeat, saying: "I'm still struggling to field a settled side at the moment but we lost to them 9-0 this time last year so there's still an improvement!

"We're away at Whitchurch on Saturday and that really is a crucial six-pointer even at this stage of the season."

Downton continue to inch away from the bottom two after collecting their fifth point in four games in a 1-1 home draw with Bournemouth Poppies.

Matt Guy rifled the Robins into an early lead when Gary Frost's corner wasn't cleared.

But Poppies equalised ten minutes into the second half when Steve Collins tucked away a penalty after Sam Bryning had been pushed.

Poppies had to endure a nervous last five minutes when 'keeper Nick Stone was sent off for handling the ball outside the area, forcing Bryning between the posts but they held out for their point.

Downton manager Mitch Blake smiled: "It was a good point but we were unlucky not to have had all three.

"At least we are putting some daylight between ourselves and the bottom two though."
