OVERTON rugby mini-section returned home from the Southampton Trojans rugby tournament with runners-up spot in both the under-seven and under-eight age group.
The tournament involved clubs from Salisbury, Bournemouth, Havant and the hosts.
It was a great result for the under seven side in their first-ever tournament as they lost to Salisbury in the final.
Buster Woolfenden, Toby Small and Tommy Hunter were their outstanding players.
The under-eight side were also beaten by Salisbury in the final, but it was another good performance, with Nick Wilmot-Smith and Ben Piper catching the eye in defence, and Alec New scoring six tries.
The under-nine side lost of Trojans and Havant before beating Salisbury 15-5 and Bournemouth 25-10.
The tackling stars in defence were Gracie New, Laura Cousins and Charlotte Hodgson.
The under-10 side lost to Havant, and by only one try to Trojans, before recovering to overcome Bournemouth and Salisbury.
Overton under-11s won a single game, thanks to the boot of Rupert Lewis. The team were tied in second place after the group but missed out on the final due to try count-back.
Gary Miller, head of coaching at Overton, said: "We continue to have a great start to the new season and, even though we did not take any of the titles, we were competitive in all the age groups."
