There were varying fortunes for the county's National League representatives, as Basingstoke boosted their chances of clearing away from the bottom end of the log, while Havant slipped to their third defeat and drop to fifth.
The latter's 39-30 reverse at home to North Walsham was certainly no disgrace as they matched the side that that have lost just once in the division score for score throughout before they stretched away.
Havant led 20-19 at the break through Steve Claffey's fourth- minute penalty and his releasing winger Wes Robertson for a try that the fly-half converted.
Dave Archer scored the first of his brace through a charged down kick to keep the hosts in touch.
Two tries early in the second half pushed the Norfolk side away, but Havant clung on through Archer's second and Neil McGovern deep into injury-time, although it was too late to prevent the visitors taking both points.
