Titchfield Carnival makes a return to the village's streets on Monday October 28.

Veteran Pompey goalkeeper Alan Knight will be guest of honour and crown carnival queen Natalie Stevens, 21, of Southampton Hill, Titchfield.

This year the colourful carnival procession will revert to its historical route, finishing up outside the Wheatsheaf pub in East Street.

It's a change from the last five years when all the floats finished up on Southampton Hill because of safety fears about floats turning into the A27. Organisers The Titchfield Bonfire Boys have spent the best part of a year organising the big day and insist the new route will be both safe and popular.

Money from the carnival will go towards local good causes and the setting up of a first responder scheme in the village to provide first aid in emergencies.

Dave McKay, vice-chairman of The Titchfield Bonfire Boys, said: "It's hopefully going to be a great success and we are very pleased to have Alan Knight as our VIP on the day."
