BRIGHTON hopefuls British Sea Power bring their UK tour to The Joiners on Monday, supporting the release of their new single.
Childhood Memories hits the streets next week and is expected to get a higher placing in the charts then their beloved Brighton and Hove Albion football team's position in Division One.
The band, who have already released a handful of singles, are familiar with the pub and club circuit, having presented their own Club Sea Power night at Brighton pub The Freebutt for the past two years. It was at a Club Sea Power evening that Rough Trade record company boss Geoff Travis happened upon the band. He immediately presented the band with a recording contract, it's been uphill ever since.
The band's new single also includes the tracks Favours In The Beetroot Fields and Strange Communication. Apparently these compositions allude to an ill wind from the Ukraine, venereal disease, a long goodbye and Viscount Montgomery of Alamein! Promises to be an interesting night.
The Joiners, Southampton, October 28. Tickets: £5. Box office: 023 8022 5612.
