IT MAY be more than 25 years since Elvis Presley last performed live on stage - for obvious reasons - but people are more in love with the King of rock 'n' roll than ever before.
A quarter of a century on from Elvis's death, the quiffed sex god is still one of the world's best-selling artists. But, while most people are content to listen to his music, some will always want to see the Pelvis perform live - and that, of course, presents something of a problem.
But if you're happy to leave your disbelief at the door and go in with an open mind, theatres all over the land regularly play host to Elvis imitators - from the stunningly awful to the really quite good.
You can decide for yourself which camp Heath Ashton falls into - but he does come with the honour of being voted the nation's number one Elvis impersonator in a competition run by GMTV.
A former Stars in Their Eyes winner, Ashton is hoping to go on tour with his Elvis tribute show next year.
The Mayflower, Southampton, October 29. Performance: 8pm. Box office: 023 8071 1811.
