New Forest CC played host to the final race of this year's South District League Championship for the Rawlinson Trophy last week.

Steve Clark (Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers) dominated the men's event, winning the outright competition and veterans category while Carolan Smerdon (CC Weymouth) and Sam Barrett (Bournemouth Arrow Fircroft Hotel) each won their respective categories in the ten-mile race.

With three riders in the top ten all collecting over 1,000 points VC St Raphael Waite Contracts underlined their supremacy as they emerged clear winners of the team contest.

Southampton rider Alan Sharpen managed to clinch the veterans' runners-up spot and fourth overall while his Sotonia CC club-mate Mary Churcher finished in second in the women's table.

New Forest CC race official will be in action again this Sunday for the Wessex Cyclo-cross League.

The 10-mile sprint across farmland near Crow should be a field day for the mud-loving competitors after the recent weather conditions.

Also on Sunday is the first of six reliability rides with a 50-mile trek into East Hampshire. The rides will run throughout the winter months and are open to anyone who is looking for a moderate to strenuous hours of cycling.
