THE Premier Division clubs are back in action tomorrow after two weeks of cup matches, and the New Inn versus Labour Club game at Brighton Hill looks to be the pick of the bunch.
New Inn, fresh from their North Hants May Cup victory against Pickett Piece last Saturday, will be looking to keep top position in the table. But Labour Club must begin to get their act together or they will finish well down the table.
Bramley United, with a 100 per cent record from nine matches, should have no problem tomorrow at home to bottom-ranked Kingsclere.
Oakridge West continue to have a bad time of it. Their worst defeat so far was on Saturday when they crashed 8-0 to AFC Aldermaston. At Wellington Social they face Taverner Close, where John Hayward takes his side after they won their last four matches.
Third-placed Hook will not find visitors Oakley Ath easy, although last week Oakley exited from the May Cup after being beaten 2-1 by Andover New Street Old Boys.
Hook, themselves, had another difficult cup game against Alresford Town from the Winchester League, but goals from Richard Sygrove and Steve Noakes saw them through.
The other Premier game is at Water End, where Water End take on AFC Aldermaston. John Jarvis, who is the Water End manager this season, had to play last week against Inkpen Exiles. His goal helped secure the 4-3 extra-time win. The team earns a bye in the next round.
There are no Division One matches because all 10 clubs are competing in the second qualifying round of the Peter Raynbird Cup. The Premier Division clubs come in for the next stage, the first round proper.
Tylney Hall are doing well and are top of the division with seven straight wins. They are also through in the May Cup after beating Headley 5-3 on Saturday and the Hants A Cup, and so they should not find Sainsbury's difficult.
Silchester United, fresh from their success against Labour Club, travel to Ropley, who took Lamb Inn to extra time last week but went out of the May Cup when beaten 5-3. Lamb play South Ham Rangers at the War Memorial Park tomorrow.
Serge Holland, who has scored three hat-tricks for the team already and netted one of the extra-time goals, should be available for this game. It will be his last before he starts a five-week suspension.
Tadley Town A have been reinstated into the Peter Raynbird Cup after Kingsclere Reserves - who they lost to on penalties in the previous round - have been eliminated. This is because Kingsclere played ineligible players. Clubs are reminded players must be registered at least seven days before a cup tie.
They meet Sherborne St. John at the AWE ground.
Herriard Sports continue to enjoy their season, winning through to the second round of the North Hants Junior Cup last week after beating Great Western 5-0. They will not mind meeting AFC Aldermaston A away, having drawn with them earlier this season.
Last week, the Aldermaston third-string won 10-0 against Upham Reserves when both Michael Collier and Mark Chapman netted hat-tricks.
New Inn Reserves are still winning, their latest victory 4-3 away to Crusaders at Winchester. They face Oakley Ath Res at Newfound.
Hugh Temple's side are no pushover if they have their strongest side available, and had an impressive 6-0 win against Wallop Wanderers away. Young Nick Breeze scored a hat-trick.
Nine Saxons, who got over their recent defeats with a 5-2 North Hants Cup win against Overton United A, have a tough assignment as they meet Headley Ath at Sherborne Road.
In the Saturday League Division Two, Chineham, who beat Eastleigh Royals 3-1 last week, meet Kingsclere Reserves.
The only other match is at Sherfield, who meet bottom-ranked Great Western at the Green.
Wayne Cooksey is the new Basingstoke Saturday League appointment secretary. His phone number is 01256 326295. He takes over from Mike Castle, who is now Suburban League referee appointment secretary.
