A stiff easterly breeze greeted the fleet competing in the second race of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club winter series last weekend.
In around 15-20 knots of wind, there was a Class 1 win for Mike Garvey's X Parrott X332 who won by more than three minutes on corrected time over Tim and Chris Octon's Corby 35 Njos, which took line honours. Edward Broadway's Jeanneau OD35 Hooligan was third.
Class 2 IRC saw Roger Townsend's Jones-designed Prism 25 Backchat take line honours but Dragonstar, Brian Yeoman'sNicholson 345 came through to take handicap honours by two and a half minutes with Hooligan Steve Sault's Sigma 33 second and Backchat third.
Class 3, racing under club handicap, line and corrected time honours, were taken by Hunter 707 Big Boys Toys (Andrew Percival), with Michael Perrin's Sigma 33 Iskareen second and third Close Encounter, Chris Waddington's Ufo27.
In a close-fought battle between the multihulls, Corsair F28R Carbon Tiger (Brian Haynes) was first to finish with Dragonfly 800 Kokomo (James Stewart) coming through to take corrected time victory from F28R Shakatak (Pete Jenkins).
