Jim Almand, The Platform, Southampton
EQUALLY at home with country, blues, soul, and rock, New Mexico-based Jim Almand played a nicely varied 90-minute set at The Platform.
Accompanying himself on guitar and occasional harmonica, Jim played everything from I'm On Fire by Bruce Springsteen, It's All Over Now Baby Blue by Bob Dylan, and Rain by The Beatles, even throwing in a Burt Bacharach song for good measure.
Interspersed were a number of his own songs, the most memorable of which was the bluesy Louisiana.
Despite the deteriorating weather outside, a big crowd turned up to see a man with the ability to play any kind of music in his own style.
With his soulful voice and an engaging personality, Jim held the attention with an exhilarating eclectic set.
