AN Andover mum is launching a children's charity - inspired by fundraising efforts she made for her seven-year-old daughter who suffers from cerebral palsy.

Jo Plummer, who lives in Marchant Road, needs £1,000 to start an official charity.

She is getting the ball rolling tonight with a Hallowe'en disco which she has organised with her friend Paula Chandler. She came up with the idea after a series of fundraisers aimed at finding £800 for a specially-adapted tricycle for daughter Chloe, a pupil at St Peter's Primary School, Appleshaw.

Now Chloe is being measured for her new bike, her mother is looking to continue the good work for other needy children.

Mrs Plummer said: "I've decided I want to set up a trust to help other children for the same sort of things - like equipment or private physiotherapy.

"There's also a conductive education institute in the New Forest which is quite expensive. People might like to try it and it would be nice to help them pay for it. Since she started going there in February, Chloe took her first unaided steps during the summer holidays.

"It's not just for those suffering from cerebral palsy, but it's definitely for children with physical difficulties.

"Chloe's tricycle is going to give us the chance to go out as a family again and it will allow her to be independent."
