JUBILANT racehorse owners Ray and Penny Grenville-Webb from Stoke joined happy punters in the Coronation Arms, St Mary Bourne after their 25-1 shot Tout Seul romped to victory in the Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.

So many local people backed the two-year-old colt in the 3.25 over seven furlongs that Andover bookmakers ran out of cash in the rush to collect winnings.

Mr Grenville-Webb, who has owned a tenth of the horse in a syndicate since November, said: "We're delighted. He's the most successful two-year-old in terms of prize money this year."

Tout Seul (All Alone) who is trained near Didcot by Fulke Johnson Houghton, won £153,000 in prize money with a one-and-a-quarter length victory in the top race for two-year-olds - seeing off Tomahawk and favourite Fair Trade.

Regulars at the Coronation Arms spent Sunday celebrating the win.

Landlord David Peart said: "It was fairly jubilant. There was a lot of local interest and people who don't normally have a bet all got involved. Some even got odds of 33-1. We had a bit of a knees-up to celebrate."

But lots of punters had to wait for their winnings as bookies struggled to cope with demand.

Doug Smith of William Hill said: "One of our Andover shops ran out of cash. Most people were issued cheques or came back on Monday.

The losses locally amounted to five figures as lots of people were on it."
