Ray Hughes of Clarence Wheelers, not content with beating all local opposition again, hurtled round the circular course to win the New Forest CC Ringwood Brewery sponsored ten-mile time trial in record time.
He clipped 41 seconds off the course best of 22min 24sec set by the promoting club's Tony Green six years ago and beat runner-up Terry Icke (Poole Wheelers) by over a minute.
Hughes took just 21.43 to register his 30th victory of the season on a morning when only five others beat 24 minutes.
National 24-hour bronze medallist, Lawrence Winterbottom (Hounslow Wheelers) rode twice, which is not uncommon when a race for tandems is held in conjunction with the main event over such a short distance. But Winterbottom's effort was unusual because he re-appeared on the same tandem he and partner Alice Goldwyn took 26m.10s to race round hours earlier.
With no cycle to ride for his second performance, Winterbottom returned without his 'stoker' and needed only another 43 seconds going solo, beating several competitors on more suitable cycles!
Contributions from the rece sponsors, plus a third of everyone's entry fee, helped New Forest CC donate over £200 to the Oakhaven Hospice of Lymington.
At rain-soaked Cheltenham, the hopes of Wessex League champion Stuart Bowers (Hargroves Cycles) suffered in the main event as another Belgian-based visitor, George Richardson (MI Racing Peugeot), took the place of round one winner Matt Ellis to pip last year's overall winner, Barrie Clarke (Helly Hansen Giant).
