IT'S more doom and gloom for Broughton Res in the NHL as they crashed 6-2 at home in last Saturday's bottom-of-the-table clash against Whitchurch Res, with Mark Dawson doing the damage by scoring four of the goals.

The village club's second string were probably hoping to gain something out of the game and did well in the first half with them trailing only by the odd goal in five at the break. However, they faded in the second half and conceded anther three goals which leaves them firmly anchored at the football of the game.

Whitchurch will welcome the three points but they are second from bottom on goal difference, their other goals coming from Andy Kitson and Alan Penkethman.

The previous week in the NHL Vernham DeanVernham Dean turned in a good solid perfomance but were beaten 4-1 at home by a fitter Winchester side with Vernham's consolation coming late on from Gary Powley. It was nip and tuck for an hour as a fine display of 'keeping from Mark Sturgess helped to keep the score line respectable.

Stockbridge Res were held 3-3 at home by local rivals Andover New Street 'A' but Phil Leeson's team will feel that it was two points lost rather than a point gained having led on three occasions.

Ally Nichols had them a goal to the good at half time but Steve Arnold cancelled it out soon after the restart. They regained the lead with a Martin Franks' header, Street quickly levelled again through Tom McMillan but 'Bridge must have thought the game was won when Joel Pinchbeck restored their advantage with time running out, only for the in-form McMillan to add his second of the game to deny them victory and give Gary Jones' side a well earned point.

Broughton Res were hit for six by Tadley Res, who were far too strong for the struggling local village side.

Tadley never looked back after scoring three times in the first 15 minutes.
