Day two - Sunday October 20th - of the Tyco Healthcare Hamble Winter Series proved to be full of excitement and incident for the 40 plus entries in the 707-class reports club commodore Roger Pritchard.

" Mark Gillett and James Ross finished first and second in the two races. A 707 unexpectedly sank after a spectacular broach; other entrants came to the rescue and picked up the five-man crew.

"Despite the forecast of extreme gales for the Solent, the legacy of hurricane Kylie, 180 yachts turned out. Although it was dull and grey overhead there was a good racing wind with a south-easterly gusting from 15 to 25 knots."
