EVER met a sports team where all the players are related?
Here's one. The Grinners News and Food netball team includes four sisters from one family and two sisters and a daughter from another.
The sisters in the team are Debbie Targett, Angie Baird, Edith Baird and Yvonne Daniel
The other family are Jo Mayle, Julie Dutoit and her daughter Amy Dutoit.
The family connections make them a special team.
And the spirit shone through when they played Rotary Technical Solutions at Oakland's Community School on a day when the sun shone beautifully for the match.
The game was played in excellent spirits and was fought out to the bitter end, Grinners coming away with the win 49-48.
It was always going to be a close match with the skills of both teams equally matched.
Energy and friendly attitudes continued throughout and was a great display of netball from Division 3.
During the last quarter the score stayed level with each team scoring on their centre pass. No mistakes could be made and the supporters were enjoying every minute of an exciting match.
But Grinners just managed to score before the final whistle and both teams agreed that the game was a little too close for comfort.
