There's no stopping Trojans, who boast the only unblemished Hampshire/Surrey Regional League record after thrashing previously undefeated Basingstoke 7-1 at Stoneham Lane.

A 100 per cent record from three wins has given newly-promoted Trojans a two-point lead over Barnes and Bournemouth at the top.

Trojans should extend that advantage against beleaguered Andover at the Chalton Sports Centre on Saturday.

The 7-1 scoreline against Basingstoke was even more remarkable as the North Hants club had not conceded a goal in either of their two previous games.

But Trojans have just carried on where they left off from last winter's 120-goal jamboree and tore the Basingstoke defence to ribbons.

Goals came from all over the pitch, with Wayne Shepherd bagging a pair and Simon Lucas, Chris Rhodes, Matt Sykes, Colin French and Campbell hitting the target.

Second-placed pair Barnes and Bournemouth remain undefeated but both dropped points.

Barnes were held 2-2 by London Edwardians, with Bournemouth sharing the spoils in a six-goal thriller against Reigate Priory.

Beaten in their previous two matches, Hamble Old Boys got off the mark with a six-goal romp against Andover, who have leaked 18 goals in their opening three games.

Andover had five first-choice players unavailable but started the more positive of the two sides.

The turning point of the match came when sweeper Ben Nichols hobbled off after being struck on the foot from a penalty corner strike.

"While Ben was off the field, we failed to reorganise at the back and Hamble scored two quick goals," revealed Andover's Glyn Hacker.

"Our confidence was fragile as it was and we never recovered from that double blow."

Duncan Marsh and Steve Barber cashed in, each notching a hat-trick as Hamble romped to a 6-0 victory.

Winchester enjoyed a fair share of the possession but went down 3-0 to Woking, who are expected to be among the challengers to table-topping Trojans.

"We put up a pretty good fight, but had to live with the unfortunate reality that it wasn't quite enough," reflected coach Merijen van Willigen.

"We got a pretty talented front line but Woking's marking was very tight indeed and we weren't able to deal with the situation.

"But we're a young side and it's all part of the learning curve."

Southampton's unbeaten start in Hampshire League, Division 1 ended with a 4-3 defeat at Yateley, while the University's second match since summer vacation ended in a 4-2 defeat at Wimborne Wayfarers.

Salisbury, last season's Division 2 winners, are finding life tough in their new surroundings.

They lost 4-0 against third- placed Aldershot & Farnham at Bemerton.

Gosport drew level with Fordingbridge at the top of Division 2 after spanking Alton 5-2 in a match superbly umpired by the emerging Ray Holyer.

The Turks changed round 4-0 up at half-time with Steve Thomas, Dave Fisher, Andy Houston and Mike Higgins on target.

Thomas added a fifth after the break for Gosport, who share top spot with Fordingbridge and US Portsmouth.
