Dan Leonard scored with the last hit of the match to earn Fareham a 2-2 draw against South Premier League rivals Oxford University at Iffley Road.
Fareham looked set to suffer an odd-goal defeat until Leonard, hockey coach at King's School, Winchester, got an outstretched stick to Sam Howard's ball in from the left-hand edge of the D.
"It was a perfect time for Dan to get his first goal for the club. The umpires didn't have time to restart the game," said Fareham coach Steve Godwin.
Fareham twice came back from behind in the second half to snatch a point, Jim Moseley having deflected in a short corner to cancel out the Dark Blues' opener.
"Possession-wise, it was probably 60-40 to Oxford, but I thought we deserved a point," said Godwin, whose Fareham side entertain Bromley at Henry Cort School on Saturday, 1pm.
Defending champions City of Portsmouth held Chichester 2-2.
